A moment of appreciation for Lucy M. Lewis, a great potter. One of the last matriarchs who lived full time in the Acoma Pueblo of NM, she hand-built her pots from coils of clay pulled from the ground, painted her fine geometric designs with brushes made from yucca plants, and fired them in an outdoor handmade kiln when weather allowed.
