The July Unwind Retreat took place this past Saturday on a sunny, peaceful day. After morning restorative yoga and a meditative nature walk I introduced the attendees to their focus for the day - the Korean moon jar form.

It is made by joining two hemispherical halves of clay. The seam where they meet often remains visible. The mark of the process becomes part of the piece’s final form. With this relaxed notion of process informing outcome, the Unwind attendees hand built their own moon jars.

For many, this was their first time experiencing clay.

Beginning with the same, simple form, the results turned out as beautifully different as their makers.

The next Unwind Retreat will be on August 28.
